At DU, you'll find a vibrant, inclusive community on our Denver campus and the awe-inspiring Kennedy Mountain Campus. We value every student’s unique perspective, encouraging voices that help us grow. Through intramural and Club sports, programs such as Communities of Color and student organizations like the DU Queer-Straight Alliance, you’ll find spaces to belong, contribute and create a more inclusive world.
Living In Denver
Our campus is minutes from downtown Denver — one of the fastest-growing cities in the nation — and just a short drive from the Rocky Mountains. From hiking trails to concert venues, there’s always something to explore, often with friends from DU’s active and welcoming community.
Our main campus sits on the edge of Denver, in a pedestrian-friendly neighborhood less than 15 minutes from downtown – easily accessible from our nearby light rail station.
Our second campus, the James C. Kennedy Mountain Campus, was opened in 2021. Nestled in the Rocky Mountains less than two hours away, KMC is home to hiking trails, climbing routes, its own Via Ferrata, and so much more.
DU students love to go to concerts, films, and yoga at Red Rocks, our state’s most popular natural amphitheater and outdoor concert venue, only 20 minutes from campus.
The Mile High City is at your fingertips as a DU student. As the state capital and the largest metropolitan area in a 500-mile radius, Denver is a major cultural and economic hub.
Discover the city’s thriving arts scene from local galleries and museums to arts districts, like in RiNo (shown here) and along Santa Fe Drive.
Historic Union Station is easy to get to from campus and connects students to the airport, the foothills and even the ski slopes.
Athletics, Club Sports and Intramurals
Division I Athletics
Whether you’re cheering on our NCAA DI championship ice hockey team in Magness Arena, rooting for our all-star women’s gymnastics team or marveling at our alpine ski team as they zoom down the slopes, DU athletics is an exciting part of campus life.
Get involved and make friends who will last a lifetime through our student-run clubs. Feel free to start your own club, too — no matter your interests, you’ll find someone who shares them.
DU offers 30 club teams and seasonal intramural sports too. Join an existing club sport, or create an intramural team with your friends in anything from ice hockey, soccer, lacrosse, even cycling and figure skating.
The university’s longest-running and largest student club, the Alpine Club has been encouraging DU students to explore the great outdoors – right here in our Rocky Mountain backyard — since 1928. Alpine Club members head to the mountains to enjoy downhill and Nordic skiing, ice climbing, dog sledding, hiking, whitewater rafting, and more.
"The friendships I have formed at DU have shown me what it means to belong."
